Relocating to Grimsby Ontario
Named after the English fishing town of Grimsby in northeast Lincolnshire, Grimsby Ontario is home to about 27,000 residents. It is known as the "gateway between Hamilton and Niagara". In the early 1900s, it had a beautiful amusement park, roller coaster, movie theater, and cabins on the lake but that has since gone away making room for more residential properties and parks. It has 33 small parks, 17 larger parks, and many more sports fields, trailers, and green spaces and facilities.
It also features several museums, public art galleries and libraries, and the Beach King Centre, home of the Grimsby Peach Kings hockey team. Downtown Grimsby along Main Street has some great shops and restaurants. Just outside of town is Beamer's Falls, a beautiful hike with attractive rock formations and waterfalls. There are multiple wineries, distilleries, and pubs throughout Grimsby making it a great place to meet friends and family.
Grimsby Ontario Schools
Grimsby is served by the District School Board of Niagara and the Niagara Catholic District School Board. There are two secondary schools and eight public primary schools. The first librarian Grimsby was opened in 1871 housing a collection of just 1000 books. In 1975, the library was finally expanded to include a new building which inaugurated a Grimsby Public Art Gallery in the basement of the library. And in 2004, a new building was constructed adjacent to the original structure to house the library and art gallery in one.
