Relocating to Guelph Ontario

Guelph Ontario was founded in 1827, one of the earliest cities along the falls on the river by John Galt, a Scottish novelist and colonizer. It was named for the family name of the British Royal House of Hanover and today is a major manufacturing, arboriculture, and educational centre in one of Canada's most densely populated areas. It's home to the University of Guelph, which combined Ontario's agricultural college and veterinary college.

Known for its unmistakable identity, Guelph is a vibrant, independent city with fantastic breweries, restaurants, and beautiful picturesque rivers and landscapes. Guelph features unique farmers markets, festivals, and art and culture scene, distilleries, conservation areas, and beautiful lakes, parks, and rivers. It's the perfect combination of nature and industrialism. There are dozens of trails throughout the city dotted by amenities and services such as markets, restaurants, shops, and local activities.

Guelph Schools

Guelph is operated by four distinct school boards, the Upper Grand District School Board, the Wellington Catholic District School Board, The Conseil scolaire de district Catholique Centre-Sud offers French First language education for students with parents who had elementary and secondary education in French at École Saint-René-Goupil. The Conseil scolaire Viamonde, with similar entrance requirements, operates the École élémentaire L'Odyssée. Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir operates the École élémentaire catholique Saint-René-Goupil. All of Guelph's secondary schools belong to either the Upper Grand or the Wellington Catholic board.

Guelph also operates Guelph museums including the Guelph Civic Museum showcasing the city's history and the McRae house, the birthplace of Lieut. Col. John McRae author of In Flanders Fields.
