Halton Hills was originally called Georgetown until about the 1970s.

It offers farmer's markets, fantastic breweries, award-winning restaurants, and outdoor patios. This unique combination of two urban areas, historic hamlets, and rural landscapes are less than an hour from downtown Toronto.
Halton Hills is also known for its great festivals and events put on each year. The town also has partnered with the Ontario Culinary Tourism Alliance to create the "Great Taste of Ontario" passport featuring 15 different culinary businesses all part of the event for folks to win prizes and delicious food. The Pedals & Pubs is also a fun event where you ride your bike down to the Red Harp Pub in downtown Acton, grab a pint and sit out on the patio with 16 different varieties of beers on tap as well as seasonal and signature beverages. From there, you make your way to St. George's Pub, the Halton Hills Library, the Furnace Room Brewery, and finally finish the day off at Tanner's Restaurant, which also has a great open bike garage where you can store your bike or get a basic repair kit.
