Relocating to Shelburne Ontario
Shelburne Ontario got its start back in the 1860s with the construction of the Toronto Sydenham Road and more settlers were moving into the Shelburne area. In 1865, the British Canadian Hotel was constructed in a post office shortly after that. It was named after the Earl of Shelburne and rapid economic growth followed up to about 1877 due to the new railways that were built. It was incorporated in 1879. However, it still remains a fairly small town. It was initially known as Jelly Corners and was almost called Tandaragee, after an Irish village in Armagh.
Shelburne Ontario is part of the Upper Grand District School Board and it features three elementary schools and the Centre Dufferin District High School.
